Abstract:
If dark matter consists of WIMP particles, such as the supersymmetric neutralino, many theories predict that they can annihilate in the halo of the galaxy to stable charged cosmic rays. These high energy annihilation products could then show up as anomalous features in the otherwise smooth power-law distribution of cosmic rays. One particular channel, if the WIMP is heavy enough, is through W+W- production. In this talk I will discuss a search for spontaneous W+W- production in the galaxy using the charged cosmic ray spectra from the AMS-01 experiment which flew on the Space Shuttle in 1998.
