SUMMARY:INPA Seminar Speaker: Prof. Pranava Teja Surukuchi (University of Pittsburgh)-Title: In the End\, It Does Matter: Probing the Neutrino Mass at the Endpoint
DESCRIPTION:Date: July 10\, 2026 \nTime: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm \nLocation: Sessler Conference Room – 50A-5132 [Hybrid and In-Person] \nSpeaker: Prof. Pranava Teja Surukuchi (University of Pittsburgh) \nTitle:  In the End\, It Does Matter: Probing the Neutrino Mass at the Endpoint \nAbstract: The neutrino remains one of the Standard Model’s greatest mysteries. We have never directly measured its mass\, do not know how it acquires mass\, and do not know whether it is its own antiparticle. All these can be addressed through precision measurements near the Q-value of beta decays. \nProject 8 uses Cyclotron Radiation Emission Spectroscopy (CRES) to measure the endpoint of the tritium beta-decay spectrum (Q = 18.6 keV) and extract the neutrino mass. The experiment has placed the first CRES-based neutrino mass limit and is currently working toward demonstrating the scalability needed to reach sub-eV sensitivity. CUORE searches for neutrinoless double-beta decay in Te-130 (Q = 2527 keV) using a 988-crystal cryogenic calorimeter array\, and has performed the most sensitive search for this process using calorimetric detectors. Upon reaching its target exposure of 3 tonne-years of TeO₂\, CUORE will undergo a targeted cryogenic upgrade followed by an additional physics run. The experiment will then transition to CUPID\, which will use Mo-100 (Q = 3034 keV) with particle identification for improved background rejection. This talk presents the status and results from both programs and their implications for the neutrino mass scale and nature. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://lbnl.zoom.us/j/95016696011?pwd=Tk1XOW1Xd3RYRnlsc2tEYmRWZlVVZz09 \nMeeting ID: 950 1669 6011 \nPasscode: 247722

SUMMARY:INPA SEMINAR SPEAKER: Dacheng Xu(Columbia University)- Title: Measurement of the Solar Boron-8 Neutrino Fog with XENONnT
DESCRIPTION:Date: August 7\, 2026 \nTime: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm \nLocation: Sessler Conference Room – 50A-5132 [Hybrid and In-Person] \nSpeaker: Dacheng Xu (Columbia University)  \nTitle: Measurement of the Solar Boron-8 Neutrino Fog with XENONnT \nAbstract: Coherent elastic neutrino–nucleus scattering (CEvNS) of solar neutrinos is a fundamental Standard Model process and an irreducible background for next-generation dark matter searches\, often referred to as the “neutrino fog.” With its large exposure and ultra-low background\, XENONnT has reached the sensitivity required to observe this interaction. Using data from the first three science runs\, we have searched for Boron-8 solar neutrino CEvNS and rejected the background-only hypothesis at 3.3 sigma. In this talk\, I will present a detailed view of the search for solar Boron-8 CEvNS using the full analyzed dataset and discuss its implications for beyond-Standard-Model neutrino physics and light dark matter in neutrino fog. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://lbnl.zoom.us/j/95016696011?pwd=Tk1XOW1Xd3RYRnlsc2tEYmRWZlVVZz09 \nMeeting ID: 950 1669 6011 \nPasscode: 247722
